Hi John,

Thanks for visiting my site. You are correct, there is a "fine" line between a parent helping a child to create and accomplish their dreams, and the parent trying to live out their own dreams through their child.

Thanks!

Michael Jackson's life for all of the greatest that was truly evident in this man is as tragic as any in my 48 years of life. And why is it tragic, I'm glad you asked. His father, yes, Joe Jackson's desire to have his sons and particularly Michael, to become what he never could become was much of the cause. His constant drive for "their" success would lead him to push and push and push. I've seen so many times outside of the celebrity context. Parents who want to live vicariously through their children. What a shame! This should be a lesson to every father. Live your life and guide your children to the life that God has place them on this earth to live. That does not mean that we cannot have hopes and dreams for our children, but in the final analysis, it's their life, their destiny and their choices that will determine who or what they will become.

Hey Jay,

Well said, I agree. Therefore, we have to spend each day living out our DASH in a way we want to be remembered and the legacy we want to leave behind.

Mr Clark,
I have read/heard things since Michael's death and its sad how we treat each as human beings. The DASH is a small mark on all our headstones when we die but it carries a lot of information.Michael's DASH is no different from any one else that has died.It contains good and bad.All in All the D.A.S.H. of any man's life is all that will be left when he dies.

Randy:
I have read a few of these... pretty good writing. Perhaps a bit lacking in its profoundness (is that a word?) but good writing nonetheless.
I wanted to point out that as we get older, we have only our words to perpetuate our minds. As an artist, the most importatnt thing I can do is to "cause the world to think a new thought". I do this more through my songs and poems than I do with my painting, so that is a great paradox in my own life.
Keep up with the writing. You never know who's listening.
